Karri Dotstry’s journey is a dynamic blend of nursing expertise, entrepreneurial success, and a deep commitment to exceptional care. Starting as a Floor Nurse on a Medical Floor and in the Intensive Care Unit, Karri’s career evolved to include roles as an Infectious Disease Nurse and a Nurse Educator. A pivotal shift led her to become a hospital sales representative, where she not only learned the intricacies of running a small business but also excelled, earning two National All-star awards.

Driven by her profound knowledge of nursing, business, and case management, Karri took the leap to start her own company, giving rise to “The Karring Group,” a proud woman-owned business established in 2013. Since its inception, Karri and her wonderful daughter have been working side by side, delivering exceptional service to their clients. The mother-daughter duo has successfully woven their nursing expertise and business acumen into a woman-owned company that prioritizes exceptional care.

On a personal level, Karri is a passionate volleyball competitor and a fitness enthusiast. Her life is guided by the mottos: “Know that everything happens for a reason” & “Your path will take you where you are supposed to be.” These principles underscore Karri Dotstry’s resilience, adaptability, and unwavering belief in the journey life unfolds.

Breann Dotstry, is a dynamic professional with a journey that weaves together her diverse experiences and unwavering dedication. Born on an Air Force base in Washington State, she soon found her home in Michigan, where she has spent most of her life, except for her college years in North Carolina.

Breann’s academic journey led her to North Carolina A&T State University on a volleyball scholarship. After three impactful years, she returned home to Michigan and completed her bachelor’s degree at Oakland University, where she double-majored in Social Work and Journalism.

Soon after graduation, a pivotal call from her mother, Karri, changed the course of her career. Together, they embarked on an entrepreneurial adventure, founding The Karring Group. From that moment, they hit the ground running and never looked back.

Breann is a proud mother to two daughters: 14-year-old Cydnee and 1-year-old Kinslee. They call Royal Oak home, and their household is enriched by the presence of beloved huskies, Mollee and Loso, as well as the newest addition to their furry family, Chandler. Breann’s joy extends beyond her professional life—she enjoys playing with her girls, and watching Cydnee excel in volleyball and coaching.

When she’s not shaping the future of case management, Breann finds joy in good TV series, audiobooks, and cherished family vacations. Her career path may have taken an unexpected turn into case management, but it’s a role she wholeheartedly embraces. Building deep relationships with her clients, offering them comfort and stability during vulnerable times, and witnessing their remarkable progress back to their normal selves bring her a sense of fulfillment that words can’t fully capture. She genuinely loves what she does and the mission of their company, embodying a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.

Executive Director

Kimberly Romanow, has a heartfelt connection to healthcare that defines her professional journey. Born, raised, and currently residing in Macomb County, MI, Kimberly’s path to healthcare began early when a family member faced a cancer diagnosis. Providing care during this challenging time ignited a profound passion within her, one that she knew would shape her life’s mission.

After high school, Kimberly joined the Red Cross and trained to become a certified nursing assistant. She dedicated several years to in-home care, offering crucial support to those in need. Later, she paused her career to raise her 3 children.

Kimberly’s professional journey continued as she became a Patient Care Technician, earning certifications in Phlebotomy, Dialysis, EKG, and Mental Health. Her expertise shone on a Medical-Surgical floor before she joined The Karring Group team.

Beyond her professional life, Kimberly finds immense joy in being a mother to her three children. Family moments are cherished through travel, camping, hiking, and fishing.

Finance Director

Sheri Sample, the Director of Finance at The Karring Group, has a history that intertwines with the company’s foundation. Her journey began in 2014 when she met Karri while Karri was her friend’s Nursing Case Manager. In May 2015, Karri reached out to Sheri about starting her own company and needing a coordinator. With over 25 years of experience in the fields of Accounting, Tax Preparation, and Finance, Sheri was the perfect fit for the role.

In her current capacity, Sheri handles all invoicing and collections, ensuring the company remains compliant with its insurances. She takes pride in working for a compassionate company like The Karring Group, which prioritizes assisting individuals on their journey to recovery. The company’s dedication to its clients deeply resonates with Sheri, and she feels fortunate to be part of this mission.

Sheri and her husband Tim have been happily married since 1993 and share the joys of parenthood with three wonderful children: Elijah, Justin, who is married to Kenzie, and Sophia. Their family has also grown with the addition of two grandsons, Greyson and Tatum, and a granddaughter, Everly, Justin and Kenzie’s children.

In their leisure time, Sheri and Tim often find themselves cheering for their daughter as she participates in barrel racing with her horse, Bonds McDreamy, at various arenas across Michigan and Ohio. When not at a barrel race, they enjoy relaxing at home around a bonfire, spending time at the beach, kayaking, or delighting in precious moments with their grandbabies.

Her career began in hospice care, where she developed a deep appreciation for the importance of empathy, communication, and supporting people through life’s most challenging moments.

After successfully serving as Director of Intakes, Tracie advanced into the role of Case Manager, bringing with her a unique understanding of the client experience from the very first phone call through the recovery journey. Today, she works closely with clients, families, healthcare providers, and attorneys to coordinate care, provide guidance, and advocate for the best possible outcomes. Her ability to build trusting relationships and offer reassurance during difficult times has made her a valued resource for the clients and families she serves.

Originally from South Florida, Tracie moved to Michigan with her family, where she completed her education and began her career in healthcare. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children—two energetic boys and their daughter, Stella Rose. Whether she’s cheering from the sidelines at soccer games, attending school activities, scrapbooking, or capturing special moments through photography, Tracie treasures every opportunity to make lasting memories with her family.

Denise Jacques, brings a wealth of experience and a compassionate heart to her role as a Nurse Case Manager at The Karring Group. Her journey in healthcare began with a registered nursing degree from Delta College, complemented by a B.A. in business from Northwood University. Denise’s career path led her through various roles, including nine years as a Critical Care Nurse/Manager at Saginaw General Hospital.

Denise finds fulfillment in leveraging her medical background to interact with clients and support their needs.

Outside of work, Denise leads an active lifestyle, indulging her passion for skiing every weekend for pleasure. While no longer a member of the National Ski Patrol, she continues to enjoy hitting the slopes and relishing the thrill of the downhill runs. She also cherishes time spent boating and enjoying summer activities at Torch and 8 Points Lakes with her husband, children, their spouses, and their six beloved grandchildren. Their Saginaw, MI, home is filled with love, laughter, and cherished family moments, reflecting Denise’s dedication to both her professional and personal life.

Dorothy Steen embodies an unwavering enthusiasm for personal growth and education, with a diverse range of interests spanning the medical field, psychology, and the legal world. Her journey through these fields began when she graduated from Dorsey Business School in 1999, marking the start of her career as a Medical Assistant. Eager to expand her horizons, Dorothy pursued further education at Baker College.

Growing up in the Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor area, Sergio developed an appreciation for diverse cultures, which sparked his love of trying foods from different countries. His curiosity and eagerness to learn new things also contribute to his enjoyment of museums and documentaries. Sergio’s favorite holiday is Halloween, and he loves taking his children trick-or-treating each year. He is also a longtime fan of horror movies. Looking ahead, two destinations at the top of his travel bucket list are Salem, Massachusetts, and Japan.

As a Nurse Case Manager with The Karring Group, April draws on a diverse healthcare background that includes geriatric care, post-surgical rehabilitation, hospice, psychiatric nursing, and caring for cognitively impaired patients. She has also served as a Clinical Nurse Manager, leading teams dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care. As a traveling immunization nurse, April played an important role in protecting communities through preventive healthcare and public health initiatives.

Outside of work, April enjoys staying active through roller skating and working out, activities that help keep her grounded and energized. Her passion for caring for others extends far beyond her profession—it is at the heart of who she is and continues to inspire the compassionate care she provides every day.

She began her nursing career in 2002 in Long Term Care, where she proudly served the same organization for more than 18 years before relocating from her hometown of Port Huron to Shelby Township, Michigan.

Throughout the past 14 years, Sonia has specialized in discharge planning and case management, helping clients and their families navigate complex healthcare needs with compassion, transparency, and integrity. Her experience also includes serving as a Director of Nursing at an Assisted Living Facility and as a COVID Unit Nurse Manager, roles that strengthened her leadership skills and reinforced her commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Sonia was inspired to join The Karring Group after witnessing firsthand the compassion and dedication the team showed while coordinating care for a mutual client. Today, she is proud to work alongside professionals who share her commitment to advocacy, teamwork, and helping clients achieve the best possible outcomes.

Family is at the heart of Sonia’s life. She and her husband, Brandon, have been happily married since 2015 and are proud parents of two sons, both attending university, and a daughter who will soon begin her own college journey. Their family also includes their beloved fur baby, Tank. Together, they enjoy traveling, watching sports, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Lead Care Coordinator

Teresa Sanders, a native of Detroit, MI, embarked on her educational journey at DPS Systems, culminating in her graduation in 1999. Her commitment to learning led her to Davenport University, where she achieved her BS in Business in 2020. Theresa’s career in healthcare began at Henry Ford Health in 2015, where she diligently served until 2022. In 2022, she joined The Karring Group.

Teresa brought her extensive knowledge and skills from the Gynecology Oncology Department to The Karring Group. She holds the role of an Executive Assistant and is rapidly evolving into the Lead Internal Coordinator.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Sanders is a dedicated mother of four. She has a profound love for her hometown, Detroit, and comes from a large, close-knit family. Theresa’s creative spirit finds expression in crafting beauty products, reflecting her passion for creativity.

Her aspiration at The Karring Group is to continually expand her knowledge and contribute to the growth of the business and its dynamic team.

Ian Conway combines a background in psychology, behavioral health, and case management with a keen eye for detail in his role as Invoice & Editing Specialist at The Karring Group. His progression within the company reflects both his versatility and his commitment to supporting the team through accuracy, organization, and exceptional service.

Ian Conway serves as the Invoice & Editing Specialist at The Karring Group, where he combines a strong attention to detail with a background rooted in psychology and client advocacy. Originally from Lakeview, Michigan, Ian earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Central Michigan University in 2015 and now resides in Ferndale, Michigan.

Before joining The Karring Group, Ian worked with children with autism as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapist before transitioning into case management for children with developmental disabilities. Those experiences helped shape his thoughtful, analytical approach and reinforced the importance of organization, communication, and supporting others.

After beginning his career with The Karring Group as an Administrative Assistant, Ian advanced into the role of Invoice & Editing Specialist. In his current position, he helps ensure the accuracy and quality of documentation while supporting the team’s commitment to providing exceptional service and care to clients.

Curiosity and creativity are a big part of Ian’s life. He enjoys spending time with his two children and caring for the family’s dogs. Together, they love camping in national parks, where his children proudly collect Junior Ranger badges at every National Park and National Monument they visit. When he’s not exploring the outdoors, Ian enjoys playing guitar, producing hip-hop beats, exercising, and playing video games.

Pam Russell

LPN, ASN, Case Manager

Pam Russell holds an Associate’s Degree in Nursing with a Minor in Psychology from Wayne County Community College. As a Case manager, she brings diverse experience in Med-Surg, Oncology, Long Term Care, CENA Training Instruction, and Home Care, with a particular passion for Emergency Room care. Pam also served as a Director of Nursing in Assisted Living and played pivotal roles in home care and clinical coordination under the Auto No-Fault Law.

In 2012, Pam co-founded Angela Home Care, where she served as the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner until its closure in 2021 due to changes in the Auto No-Fault Law. She is an active member of Soroptimist International of Greater Macomb (SIGM), focusing on empowering women and combating human trafficking. Pam is a Michigan Notary Public, an Ordained Minister, and cherishes her daughter, Angela, her two Shih Tzus, Lexi and Logan, and a close-knit circle of friends.

Her interests span a wide spectrum, including cooking, baking, hockey, travel, concerts, theatre, and bonfires. Pam is not just a skilled nurse but also a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, making her a valuable asset to The Karring Group.
